Meaning and history

The Jujutsu Kaisen animated series came out in 2020 and received an insane amount of positive reviews. Gorgeous drawings, dynamic plot, charismatic characters, atypical humor, a lot of spectacular fights, and colorful visuals. After the anime adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen was released in 2020, the popularity of the manga increased even more. The anime won numerous awards and received critical and audience acclaim.

The plot is about a guy named Yuji Itadori, leading a mediocre life as a high school student. But one day Yuji eats the finger of the Two-Faced Sukuna, which becomes part of his soul. From that moment on, he shares his body with him. Under the tutelage of Satoru Gojo, one of the strongest magicians in the world, Itadori enrolls in a magic school where he learns to fight curses.

The first season consisted of 24 episodes. New episodes were aired on the Japanese television channels TBS and MBS every week. The season finale was broadcast on March 27, 2021. The rights to show the anime outside of Asia were acquired by the American company Crunchyroll – thanks to its efforts “Magic Battle” was translated into English, French, German, and other languages. In the summer of 2021, the series became available to watch on Netflix in India and Southeast Asia.

In 2021, a prequel to the first season was released – the feature-length movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0, based on the original manga. The events of the movie take place a year before the events of the anime series and are important to the main plot.

The second season of the project saw the light of day in the summer of 2023 – 23 episodes aired from July 7 to December 28. And in April 2024, the Jujutsu Kaisen series entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the most-watched anime.

What is Jujutsu Kaisen?
Jujutsu Kaisen is the name of a manga created by Akutami Gege and published in March 2018 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine. In 2020, an animated series based on the Jujutsu Kaisen manga launched, becoming the most popular manga in the world in just a couple of years.

2018 – Today

Jujutsu Kaisen Logo

The Jujutsu Kaisen logo, created in 2018, is composed of a stylized handwritten name of the manga in Japanese, written in bold smooth lines, with vertically stretched hieroglyphs. The inscription is set in black, but to their bottom, the bars (which also get thinner) gain a reddish tone, which makes the whole lettering look very dramatic and even a bit creepy.

Font and color

Jujutsu Kaisen Emblem

The Jujutsu Kaisen logotype is handwritten in a custom font with a thick brush making up smooth contours of the characters. The typeface has no commercial analogs.

As for the color palette of the Jujutsu Kaisen visual identity, it is a combination of black and dark red, which is usually set against a white background for better contrast and readability.
