On June 10, 2024, Apple announced Apple Intelligence, a new set of artificial intelligence-based features for iPhones, Macs, and other company devices. The beta version of Apple Intelligence will be available as part of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia in the summer, and will be available to the general public in the fall. At first, the system will only work in English in the U.S. on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPad, and Mac with M1 chip and newer.
Meaning and history
Apple Intelligence works on the device itself, as the company cares about privacy and data security. AI will also work in the cloud but on a special secure server called Private Cloud Compute.
Apple Intelligence will be able to perform various actions for the user – for example, manage notifications, automatically compose texts, or summarize information in mail and other applications. Also, thanks to artificial intelligence, communication with Siri should become more natural, as the voice assistant will adapt to the context of what the user is saying.
Apple also announced the integration of Siri with ChatGPT. The voice assistant will contact the chatbot to get the necessary information and then give it to the user. At the same time, the function will be free of charge and without registering an account.
Apple will also introduce a semantic index — the AI will collect personal data when it’s needed and use it in all apps. The company promises that this data will be securely protected.
What is Apple Intelligence?
Apple Intelligence is the name of the Artificial Intelligence System from Apple, which was introduced at the beginning of June 2024. Apple Intelligence helps the device understand languages, create images, and perform various actions, including within the apps themselves. AI options help you rewrite and edit text in Mail, Notes, Safari, and other apps.
In terms of visual identity, Apple Intelligence follows the minimalistic approach of the company, yet uses a vivid color palette, which aims to represent the futurism of the product and its outstanding features.
2024 – Today
The Apple Intelligence logo, introduced in June 2024, is based solely on the lettering, set in the corporate sans-serif typeface and written in one straight line on a transparent background. The main peculiarity of the laconic insignia is the color palette, which is a gradient neon blue-to-orange composition. The shades look both tender and elegant, and at the same time very progressive and stylish. In some sources, you can see another version of the logo — with the black iconic Apple emblem followed by the strict black “Intelligence” in the same neat sans-serif.
Font and color
The clean and stable sans-serif typeface, used by Apple for all of its products, including the new Apple Intelligence, looks very similar to such commercial fonts as Sequel Sans, Neue Helveticareg Georgian, and RF Dewi.
As for the color palette of the Apple Intelligence visual identity, it is delightful and eye-catching, composed of light-to-medium gradient shades of blue, purple, pink, and orange. This scheme represents endless possibilities and variety of functions of the new company’s product.
