National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Administration — American scientific agency. Working under the US Department of Trade, NOAA’s responsibilities have expanded over time. As the name suggests, they are connected with the oceans and atmosphere. The agency does impressive work in marine and coastal resource management, in-depth climate research, weather warnings, ocean research, and more. It uses its internal resources and actively cooperates with organizations in other countries.
Meaning and History
NOAA was founded in 1970. Along with other smaller programs, the National Weather Service and the Commercial Fisheries Service merged to form the current organization. It was established to make decisions about the management, regulation, and development of the oceans and atmosphere. Notably, NOAA faced closure in 1995 when the Department of Commerce considered disbanding it in the name of necessary budget cuts. Luckily, it is still able to fulfill its valuable duties.

The logo has a modern and clean design, conveying a sense of professionalism and authority. It has a round shape with a wave design going across the center. Along with the white waves, the light blue lower half is meant to represent the ocean. The acronym “NOAA” is placed on the darker blue upper half, which is meant to stand for the atmosphere. The acronym is done in bold, uppercase letters of a contrasting white color. It is accompanied by the full name “National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration” in smaller text surrounding the emblem.
Font and Color
The logo uses two different shades blue and white. First of all, these are meant to symbolize the ocean and the atmosphere. The blue color is also associated with stability, security, trust, and responsibility. These qualities are not only valuable for an organization such as this one but are also sought after when considering the ever-changing nature.
There are two different fonts in the logo. One of them is bold and geometric. It combines rounded corners with straight, clean lines and terminals. It is similar to the Milwaukee font. The other one is a regular, sans-serif font with straight, clean strokes
