The Chinese company Gree Electric Appliances Inc. has a logo that perfectly fits an Asian manufacturer with global ambitions.
Meaning and history
The brand was founded in Zhuhai, Guangdong in 1989. Today, it manufactures a wide range of air-conditioners and small household appliances.
Symbol
The full Gree logo consists of three parts: the emblem and the name of the company in English and Chinese. However, a reduced version is used more often, especially as regards appliances made for export.
The centerpiece of the logo is a blue circle with a cut-out segment. The segment, which is given in red, has a somewhat unusual shape. It would have looked like a regular sector if not for the “unnecessary” sharp element on the corner.
Emblem: font
The name of the company is given in a perfectly legible sans serif type with distinctive “E’s.”
Colors
The combination of dark blue and red is rather popular in commercial design. Interestingly enough, according to a study conducted by YouGov, blue is the most universally favored color. In other words, blue has more fans than any other color. From the psychological point of view, dark blue is associated with intelligence and lack of emotions, while bright red is an excellent attention-grabber.
