The Culver’s fast-casual chain operates in the United States, with locations primarily in the Midwest, but also in other regions and even other countries. The chain is known primarily for its signature ButterBurgers and frozen custard. Its menu also includes chicken sandwiches, fish dinners, salads, and sides like crinkle-cut fries and cheese curds. They also offer a selection of kids’ meals and desserts. Customers like the chain’s restaurants because all of its dishes have a unique taste to them and are prepared quickly. Since most Culver’s restaurants are located near the highway, drivers love to grab a quick bite or take food with them on the road.
Meaning and History
The history of the chain began in 1961 when the Culvers spouses opened a small fast-food restaurant near the highway. Later, the restaurant chain began to grow rapidly. In 1988, the owners were first approached with an offer to open a restaurant under a franchise. Without thinking twice, the Culvers family agreed. Since then, the chain began to grow rapidly, and over time, restaurants opened under a franchise agreement that exceeded the number of families’ own restaurants. In fact, the total number has already reached 1000 locations in over 25 states.
What is Culver’s?
Culver’s, a fast-casual restaurant chain, offers a variety of snacks, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also offer takeout. 1984 – 1990, 1997 – 2006
Culver’s logo features the brand name “Culver’s” in a distinctive white script font. It is printed on a diagonal and set against a white or light blue background. The rounded, oval base with an accent white border gives it a friendly and inviting appearance. In the lower right corner, the logo includes the phrase “Frozen Custard. Butter Burgers” which highlights the brand’s most sought-after dishes.
1990 – 1997
The updated version looks more minimalistic and has a more contrasting color palette. Instead of printing the name on a diagonal, the designer had it centered and follow the curve of the base. The font, though, was only slightly adjusted to fit the new design. As for the tagline, it is added right underneath and features a bolder, larger font with rounded strokes that match the overall vibe. The new design conveys a sense of warmth and professionalism.
2006 – 2011
This logo looks almost identical to the original design. One of the most notable changes is the fact that the name got enlarged so much that it goes beyond the frame. To make the white lettering stand out on any background, a thick blue outline was added. In addition, the designer had the white border slightly thickened as well. The tagline had the two lines swapped and the “&” sign added at the end of the first line. The company was able to give the logo a new spin while preserving a recognizable brand image.
2011 – Today
Although the previous version is still sometimes used, it is this version that represents the brand since 2011. The company has not introduced anything drastically new. In fact, the brand name was taken directly from the original logo and used on its own. The company had it done in blue to further strengthen the link to its well-established brand.
Font and Color
The color scheme primarily revolves around blue, which is associated with trust and dependability. The blue color is also peaceful and calming, which is what many customers are looking for when they want to relax and enjoy their food. There is also a contrasting white that adds a finishing touch. The contrasting colors are visually appealing.
The brand name is printed using a custom bold, cursive font with a handwritten style. The characters are slightly slanted, giving it a dynamic and elegant look. Meanwhile, their rounded shape adds a welcoming, friendly feeling. Alphonse Regular font and Snooker Script Bold font are very similar to the font used in the logo. The bold, sans-serif font used for the tagline resembles the NCAA Utah Utes font. For the tagline that featured a rounded, bold font, the company used Cambridge Round Bold Exp font or similar font.
