While the logo of the Minor League Baseball team the Winston-Salem Dash is mostly a wordmark, it also manages to reflect the baseball theme and convey the concept of speed.
The oldest continuously operating franchise in the Carolina League, the Winston-Salem Dash became part of the League in 1945. Throughout its long and intense history, the Dash has changed more than ten affiliates, but since 1997 the situation has turned to be stable — the Winston-Salem Dash are playing in the South Atlantic League as a farm team of the legendary Chicago White Sox franchise.
Under the patronage of the White Sox, the Dash has upgraded from the Class-A Advanced to the High-A in 2021. However, the last league title (out of 14) was won by the Winston-Salem Dash only in 2003, when the name of the team was the Winston-Salem Warthogs.
Speaking of names, the Dash has changed many too: with just the first part never changed, the club has played as the Twins, Cardinals, Red Birds, and Red Sox. There was also a ten-season long period, when the club’s name was Winston-Salem Spirits, before becoming the Warthogs in 1995. As for the current name, the Dash, it was adopted only in 2009.
As the team was called the Winston-Salem Warthogs before 2008, it used a different logo. Here, a grey warthog was shown behind a large red “W.”
Following the adoption of the current name, a new Winston-Salem Dash logo was introduced. The name of the franchise in purple was followed by a baseball. The overall design created the impression of a plane or a bird moving at a very high speed.
The palette combines purple, black, silver, and white.
