Established in 1996, and folded in 2020, the Minor League Baseball franchise, the Lowell Spinners, has played as the farm club of the Boston Red Sox for all their history. Throughout the years the franchise only managed to win four division titles, hence there were not a lot of upset fans, when in 2020 the Spinners were not chosen as the MLB minor affiliate and had to stop playing.
The Class A Short Season affiliates of the famous Host Red Sox MLB team, the Lowell Spinners have never shown themselves as future stars. The franchise was quietly playing in the New York Penn League, on one level, with no significant ups or downs. Founded in the middle of the 1990s, the team managed to win their first division title only in 2008. But in the playoff, they lost to Batavia Muckdogs. After that playoff appearance, the Spinners only returned there three times, with the last division title taken in 2019.
In terms of visual identity, the history of the Lowell Spinners franchise is even shorter. The logo of the club was redesigned just twice The brand identity of the Lowell Spinners was inspired by their city’s textile mill history. While each logo the franchise has unveiled so far has emphasized the connection with the textile industry, it did so in its unique way.
In addition to the red borrowed from the Boston Red Sox, the Lowell Spinner’s emblem also features navy blue and green.
