Kannapolis Intimidators is the former name of the Minor League Baseball team, which today is known as Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. The Intimidators were playing as the Class Low-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. The history of the franchise started in 1963, but it was only in 1995 that the team moved to Kannapolis from Spartanburg, South Carolina, and played its first official game in the South Atlantic League. The previous brand identity, including the name and the logo, was adopted in 2001.

Meaning and history

So, the modern era of the club started in 1995, with the Spartanburg Phillies becoming Piedmont Phillies for just one season and turning into Piedmont Boll Weevils already in 1996. Under that name, the franchise existed up to the beginning of the 2000s, yet the new name, Kannapolis Intimidators was adopted in 2001 and stayed with the club until 2019.

Throughout its pretty long history, the team has only had two Major League affiliates — the Philadelphia Phillies from 1995 to 2000, and the Chicago Sox, affiliation with which started in 2001. With the Sox, the Cannon Ballers from Kannapolis have managed to upgrade their league level from Class A to Single-A.

As for the professional achievements, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers are now living their best time: the Major winds of the club started only in the middle of the 2000s, and in 2024 they have won two prizes: the First-half title and the Division one.

2001 – Today

The large “K” that is the focal point of the Kannapolis Intimidators logo isn’t just a regular letter – it looks more like a muzzle of a fierce animal. There’re sharp teeth and an angry eye. On the top, you can see sharp claws holding a baseball.

Colors

The white letter with the black and red outlines is featured on the white background. For the cap insignia, the team chose the same logo with a different background color.
