The abbreviation “IELTS” stands for “The International English Language Testing System,” which is a standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native speakers. It is now one of the best-known English-language tests.
Meaning and history
IELTS was established in 1989. Today, the test is accepted by the majority of academic institutions in Australia, Great Britain, Canada, the EU, Ireland, and New Zealand, as well as by more than three thousand academic institutions in the US.
The Logo
The IELTS logo is very simple, an example of a modern minimalist design. There is the name of the brand in bold letters that are all highly legible no matter the size. In the top right corner, there is also the TM sign.
In addition to the primary version described above, there is also a version with the tagline “English for International Opportunity.”
Font
The type used for the lettering “IELTS” is an austere sans. The rather heavy, angular letters symbolize reliability and quality. They also look business-like.
Color
Red is one of the most popular colors in logo design. However, the IELTS logo slightly darkens the popular bright shade, to make the wordmark look a little more serious. The tagline and the TM sign in black add some seriousness, either.
