The Hillsboro Hops is the name of a professional team from Minor League Baseball, which appeared in 2013 based on the Yakima Bears that relocated to Hillsboro in advance of the 2013/2014 playing season. The name of the team was inspired by the plant widely used during the process of beer brewing. In addition to this, the word “Hop” plays an important part in baseball terminology (take the terms “short hop” and “crow hop,” for instance).
Hillsboro Hops, a team from Oregon, which was established in 2013, is not only one of the youngest clubs in Minor League Baseball but also one of the most stable ones, since as of 2024, throughout its history the club has only had one Major League affiliate — Arizona Diamondbacks.
Young and promising Hillsboro Hops have already won several titles: three League ones, and three Division titles, which is quite a lot for the club’s short history. And the professionalism of the Hops’ players is one of the reasons for the huge fan base of the team. For example, in 2014, the Hillsboro Hops games were attended by almost 140 thousand people.
In terms of visual identity, Hillsboro Hops is a fresh team that is full of energy and determination. At the same time, the logo of the club has all the elements to represent the state of Oregon, and its famous forestall landscape.
The Hillsboro Hops logo depicts an anthropomorphized hop cone as a baseball player. He’s wearing a ball cap and has Mount Hood, the tallest Oregon mountain, behind its “back.” The word “Hops” in a white script can be seen to the left. The lettering “Hillsboro” in blue features a simpler type.
The cap insignia is a simplified primary logo. Here, only the hop cone can be seen.
