Harrisburg Senators is a professional baseball team from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which plays in the Southwest Division of the Eastern League. The Minor League Baseball members and the Senators are the Class-A affiliates of the legendary Washington Nationals, who won the World Series title in 2019. Established in 1987, the club has never changed its name, yet is known for quite a wide variety of different mascots.
The Harrisburg Senators started their way in baseball in 1976 under the name of the Berkshire Brewers. The current name was taken by the club almost a decade later, in 1987. And the team has never changed it since then. However, this consistency is not inherent to the team in regards to their visual identity – the Senators logo has changed, though not often, but extremely significantly.
As for the professional side of Harrisburg Senators, they have been playing in the Eastern League since the very beginning of their history, being a Double-A affiliate of Pittsburgh Pirates (1987 — 1990), Montreal Expos (1991 — 2004), and, finally, the Washington Nationals (starting 2005). Throughout the years, the Senators have won six League titles, with the first one taken in their first season in the league, in 1987; and four division titles. However, the last decade can not be called successful for the club: as of 2024, the last tile was won by the Harrisburg Senators only in 2013.
The emblem introduced in advance of the 2013/14 playing season created a distinctive visual link with the parent team. The script “H” was placed inside a blue ring looking very much like the roundel “A” logo of the Washington Nationals.
The palette of the Harrisburg Senators logo combines three of the most popular baseball logo colors – red, navy blue, and white – with noble gold details.
