FanDuel is the largest web-based company in fantasy sports. It presents the main American sports leagues: NFL, NHL, HBA, MLB, NASCAR, and many others. The bookmaker has been an official partner of the NFL since 2021 and constantly holds promotions for those who bet on this league. It offers a variety of game formats and huge prize pools that you won’t find with other fantasy sports providers. FanDuel continues to innovate and evolve, offering new features and products to its users.

Meaning and history

In 2009, five friends – Nigel Eccles, Lesley Eccles, Tom Griffiths, Rob Jones, and Chris Stafford – came together to form FanDuel. They wanted to create a platform that allowed users to engage in daily fantasy sports contests, which was a relatively new concept. In 2010, FanDuel launched its beta version, which quickly gained traction among fantasy sports enthusiasts. FanDuel’s big break came in 2011 when it secured $1.2 million in funding from investors. More funding later on further accelerated the company’s growth. In 2015, for instance, FanDuel secured a massive $275 million in funding, which valued the company at over $1 billion. Today, FanDuel is one of the largest and most popular daily fantasy sports platforms in the industry, with millions of users and a wide range of contests and games.

What is FanDuel?
FanDuel is the so-called heaven for fantasy sports players. It offers games related to all major sports, including NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL. FanDuel has over one million active users and over $4.5 billion has been paid out over the last decade.

2009 – 2012

The original logo looks sophisticated and stylish, although not very suitable for a sports company. Yet, the smooth lines and elegant curves do bring about that “fantasy” and dreamy element to the overall image. The white and blue gradient as well as the black backdrop enhance this impression. Besides the name, the logo features a tagline that says “Daily Fantasy Sports Leagues” in all caps using a small, sans-serif italicized font.

2012 – 2016

For several years, the company used only the name portion of the original logo. It set the name on a white background. The inscription itself featured a classic black color. This version looks very professional and creates an image of a solid company that can be trusted.

2016 – 2022

The logo features a new element – a stylized blue shield. The clean, modern typography used for the inscription and set in a custom sans-serif font perfectly complemented the symbol. Thanks to diagonal cuts, the overall design was completed with a sense of dynamism and forward thinking. The name is done in deep blue, which further enhances the trustworthy and stable brand image.

2022 – Today

It is not surprising that the company only made slight modifications to the logo. Whether used as a standalone icon or in combination with the name, the shield design remained instantly recognizable and cohesive across different platforms.

Font and Color

The early logo versions featured an elegant, italicized font with smooth, rounded strokes. It closely resembles Mahalia Regular by Adobe Systems Incorporated. It then switched to a bold, sans-serif font with diagonal cuts that resembled a modified version of Calasans font by Letterhead Studio or Madras font designed by Thomas Gillett. A very similar font was used in the updated logo version. It can be replicated using a slightly modified Commons Classic Bold font or Neubaufra Semi Bold font.

The original color palette was dominated by white and black. These are classic colors that create a professional and solid brand image. The rich blue, which was introduced in 2016, evokes feelings of trust, reliability, and authority – essential qualities for a daily fantasy sports platform. This color is also associated with freedom and imagination, which are equally important for fantasy sports.
