Binghamton Devils, a professional ice hockey club from New Jersey, has quite a short and not very bright history. The team only played in the AHL for three seasons, from 2017 to 2021, and was affiliated with the famous New Jersey Devils franchise from the National Hockey League.
However, it was just a small part of the extended franchise history. Initially, the club was established in 1998 as the Lowell Lock Monsters, changing to Lowell Devils in 2006, and to Albany Devils in 2010. After moving to Utica in 2021, the Binghamton Devils became the Utica Comets, a club, which today plays in the North Division of the AHL’s Eastern Conference.
Both the naming and the visual identity of the former club were based on the concepts, connected to the New Jersey Devils’ identity — a laconic yet bright color palette with red accents, and sharp graphical elements, which perfectly represent the tricky and dangerous nature of the “Devils” name.

The Binghamton Devils logo is a remarkable example of how an emblem can be unique without losing its connection with the brand identity of its “parent”, the New Jersey Devils.
The Binghamton Devils logo borrows the iconic “NJ” symbol with the horns and tail from the New Jersey Devils logo and places a face of an evil character over it creating an entirely new emblem.
While the official palette comprises only three colors – red, black, and white – the Binghamton Devils logo also includes grey.
