Entering the 21st century, UNH continued to evolve, focusing on sustainability, global education, and community engagement. Today, UNH is recognized as a top public research university.
What is UNH?
The University of New Hampshire is the largest public university and research center in the state of New Hampshire. It offers a wide range of academic programs and is actively involved in scientific research.
The university name is printed in two lines using a refined, elegant serif font. The inscription looks very traditional and presents the university as a respectable establishment. Besides the name, the logo has UNH’s Thompson Hall clock tower on the left. It is done in blue and white. The tower looks tall as it is drawn from the bottom up.
This version was introduced during a men’s hockey game in December 2013. The design was created by the world-class design firm Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv. It looks bold and confident. The tower was replaced by a deep bold shield that carries “NH”. The shield has one half colored in white with a blue frame, so the letters are done in a contrasting color. The logo turned out looking modern, while still preserving an official and sophisticated appearance. Moreover, it allowed students from other campuses to better connect with the visual identity of the university.
The official colors of UNH are represented by the blue and white logo. A deep, dark blue is often associated with sophistication. Combined with white, it creates a classical image. The blue sea and white snow that attract so many visitors to the state are also symbolically represented by the color scheme.
The earlier version of the logo features a sophisticated, classic font with bracketed slab serifs. The fine strokes have an elegant appearance and moderate contrast. The font is very similar to Trajan 3 Regular font and Baanoo font. The new font has bold, slab serifs that give it a strong and confident appearance. It closely resembles Glypha Bold font and Egyptienne Medium Narrow font.
