Before moving to Pensacola, Florida, and adopting its current name and logo before the 2012 season, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos went through almost ten names.

Meaning and history

Minor league baseball club was established in 1959 under the name of the Charleston White Sox. Today, it competes in the South League and is the Class Double-A affiliate of the major league baseball team Cincinnati Reds.

2012 – Today

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos logo features a bright fish with a menacing glare and sharp teeth. The name of the team can be seen above. The curves on the glyphs remind those of the fish’s fins, which helps to create a visual harmony between the parts of the logo.

Secondary emblem

Two alternative emblems feature the same fish in different positions. There’re also cap emblems sporting interlacing “B” and “W” and a fish hook “P.” The fish hook emblem is given in muted colors, there’re only dark blue, grey, and white. The team’s mascot is a fictional aquatic creature named Kazoo.

Colors

Due to the addition of fuchsia, the palette of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos logo acquired an instantly memorable identity. Combined with a bright shade of blue and two calmer colors, navy and grey, it stands out even more.
