ARK: Survival Evolved is a survival simulator. To survive, the player will have to build a base, and make weapons. For a more comfortable and convenient survival, you need to tame dinosaurs, which requires a lot of time and resources. The main, first, map of the game (The Island) is about 48 square kilometers, that is, about 36 square kilometers of land and 12 square kilometers of ocean.
The game was developed by Studio Wildcard, an American video game development studio founded in 2014 by Jesse Rapchak and Doug Kennedy. The studio’s office is located in Kirkland, Washington. In 2015, Studio Wildcard released its debut multiplatform game, ARK: Survival Evolved.
By August 2016, the game had been bought four million times on PC and one and a half million times on Xbox One. At the same time, it didn’t even make it to release and was still in Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, where it was released more than a year ago – in the summer of 2015. ARK: Survival Evolved for Android and iOS devices was released in 2018.
ARK: Survival Evolved is one of the most entertaining survival games to date. Wildcard developers did not follow the beaten path of zombie-apocalyptic sandboxes but made their unique product.
What is ARK?
ARK: Survival Evolved is the name of a first-person multiplayer survival/action game set in a world of technology and dinosaurs. The gameplay consists of character development and crafting. The key feature of ARK: Survival Evolved is the prehistoric fauna. More than 70 different wild animals from the time of the dinosaurs from small almost harmless dodo birds to huge tyrannosaurs.
In terms of visual identity, ARK is unique and intense. The developers of the game have done their best to represent the essence and plot of the game in just one graphical symbol.
The logo of the video game was introduced even before the official release of ARK, in 2015, and has stayed unchanged for years. It is an interesting three-dimensional emblem, depicting the letter “A” in the shape of an ancient pyramid, with three triangular gems in three corners. The gems are drawn in red, blue, and green with gradients and foggy shades. As for the pyramid itself, it is executed in a brownish-gray metallic shade, evoking a brutal and strong mood. The emblem is accompanied by the full name of the video game, written under it in two lines, usually in white contoured capitals.
The stylish uppercase lettering from the official logo of the ARK: Survival Evolved video game is set in a modern sans-serif typeface, with straight bars and cuts. The upper line features the bold stylized “ARK” in a designer font with an interesting cut-out of the “R” vertical bar, and the bottom left part of the “A” erased. The second line of the logo is written in a more traditional typeface, similar to Futurareg Maxi or LTC Twentieth Centurytrade, but with no horizontal bar in the “A”.
As for the color palette of the ARK visual identity, it boasts many bright shades with their smooth gradients — red, blue, green, brown, and gray tones, which perfectly represent the variety of scenes in the game and its spirit.
