iOS 18: What’s New in Emojis Field

iOS 18 What’s New in Emojis Field

Apple released the third beta version of iOS 18 in early July 2024. iOS 18 beta 3 has a lot of innovations, making this one of the most extensive operating system updates in the company’s history. There appeared a huge number of additional settings that relate to the interface, so now any user can customize the iPhone desktop to suit their needs and requirements.

However, the main changes will be related to artificial intelligence and how we interact with the device. Apple Intelligence is Apple’s artificial intelligence that harnesses the neural block power of the latest versions of Apple’s processor in mobile devices. Also, the Siri app will become smarter. Among other things, it now recognizes what is happening on the smartphone screen without requiring additional instructions.

The iMessage application has had a slight redesign. With iMessage, you can now send messages via satellite, which is useful in areas where classic mobile networks are not available.

Emoji Update

And, of course, the Emoji section has been updated as well. In Messages emoji, stickers and Memoji have been combined into one section. You can switch between them using the icons at the bottom. It is also easy to create your own stickers here. Emoticons themselves in the menu have been made larger, and the “Recent” section has been expanded.

iOS 18 Emojis

And Apple also announced a new feature called Genmoji. Genmoji will allow users to create personalized emojis for any situation. To create a personalized emoji, all you have to do is type a description into the search and iOS 18 will instantly generate a corresponding variant. This feature is great for expressing specific emotions and ideas that standard emoji sets can’t convey yet.

And Apple claims that Genmoji will take font size into account and will be able to adjust to it. That’s why Genmoji with several different resolutions, from low to high, will be saved to the memory of your smartphone, tablet, or computer during generation.

The 7 New Emojis

But that’s not all: in addition to all the above-mentioned innovations, iOS 18 didn’t do without adding new “standard” emojis to its set. These are seven new images, which we’ll talk about in more detail below.

The list of the new iOS 18 emojis, published by the Unicode Consortium includes the following symbols: an exhausted or sleepy face, a blue fingerprint, a brown leafless tree, a root vegetable, an elegant harp, a brutal shovel, and a bold splatter. But we have to mention, that the designs of the icons may change by the time of the official release of the operating system. However, let’s take a closer look at each of the potential newcomers.

Exhausted Face

Exhausted Face Emoji

This panda-eyes face with dark circles looks like nothing else but a very tired person who forgot what rest and sleep are. The mouth of the emoticon doesn’t show any emotions, it just has no power. Quite an actual image to use by workaholics and party people.

Fingerprint

Fingerprint Emoji

In the beta version, the Fingerprint Emoji is drawn in two shades of blue: with the dark bold, and rounded lines set on a light blue background. Most likely, the meaning behind this emoji is privacy and safety, but can also be a depiction of identification.

Leafless Tree

Leafless Tree Emoji

Quite a sad emoji depicting a large tree with no leaves can work as a depiction of the winter season, or have a deeper meaning, standing for loneliness, emptiness, and devastation. Pretty poetic.

Root Veggie

Root Veggie Emoji

The emoji with root vegetable looks more like a beetroot but can replace any of the roots in your messages. It can also represent gardening or farming. Ecology trend in action.

Harp

Harp Emoji

As we all know, the harp is one of the main symbols of Ireland, so this emoji will be quite appropriate to use in messages related to this country. This emoji is a great addition to the Unicode music collection.

Shovel

Shovel Emoji

Apart from its direct meaning, such as digging or cleaning the ground, or gardening, the shovel emoji might be used in a more creepy context, connected to funerals, death, and different horror movies and comics.

Splatter

Splatter Emoji

The purple Splatter Emoji looks very bold and cartoonish. The ink or paint spot may signify a stain or a writing process, as well as depict someone’s clumsiness and inaccuracy. Or it can be a cool replacement for a dot at the end of any message.
