Alexa is an Amazon product, which functions as a virtual assistant. It was developed in 2014 and today has numerous capabilities, which are available in more than 10 languages. Alexa can control devices, provide basic information and set alarms.
Initially, Alexa was installed on a small Amazon Echo speaker. The company began developing this device back in 2010, but it was released only five years later. At peak times, the projects had several hundred employees in Seattle, San Francisco, and Cambridge working on it. Today, Amazon allows users to install the Alexa virtual assistant not only on the Echo speaker but also on several other devices. Initially, Alexa’s capabilities were limited to the standard set of functions. However, any user can develop their assistant using Skills extensions. More than three thousand different Skills are now available and many devices and services support Alexa, including smart light bulbs, clocks, microwaves, electrical outlets, and so on.
Amazon followed its traditions and simply added “Alexa” after its brand logo, which was done fully in black. The “Alexa” portion also used all lowercase letters, although not bold. It featured a light blue gradient that went from light at the top to a darker shade at the bottom. This color is often associated with stability and is symbolic of trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, and intelligence. This approach created cohesive and recognizable branding while adding a bit of personality to each product.
The Alexa logo is light, fresh and delicate. Composed of a wordmark and an emblem, it looks modern and crispy.
The Amazon Alexa wordmark in all the lowercase letters is executed in a rounded sans-serif typeface with thin elegant lines. The inscription looks smooth and friendly, evoking a sense of loyalty and reliability.
The famous Alexa emblem is a solid light blue circle with a white drop on it, resembling a text-cloud. The emblem is bright and meaningful, showing the software’s capability to communicate and listen to commands.
The light blue and white color palette of the Alexa logo reflects the brand’s creativity and innovative approach. It represents a growing and progressive brand, which values its users above all.
The delicate lettering adds a timeless and elegant sense to the logo, making it look professional. The Alexa logo represents the company’s authority and expertise in terms of technologies and innovations.
The updated version looks a lot more like the Amazon logo. It has the name “Alexa” printed in light blue using a sans-serif font called Amazon Ember Display. Similarly to the Amazon logo, this emblem is done in all lowercase letters and has a smile (or arrow) going from one “a” to another. The logo creates a very light, friendly, and relaxed feeling, making everyone comfortable using Alexa.
