Tod’s is a luxury shoes and accessories brand, which was established in 1920 in Italy. The brand is known for its high-quality leather goods and is sold almost everywhere across the globe.

Meaning and history

Tod’s visual identity has never been changed since the date of the brand’s establishment. Created in 1920, its logo was only slightly refined throughout the years.

The Tod’s logo is composed of a wordmark, placed in an oval frame with two lions’ heads, facing left and right. The brand uses two versions of the logo — the traditional framed one and the simple wordmark, without any additional details.

The Tod’s nameplate in all the capital letters is executed in an elegant and bold serif typeface, which is very similar to Angie Sans, with its distinct and slightly curved serifs.

When placed in a horizontal oval with both thin and thick outlines, the lettering is written in a smaller size, in order not to overload the emblem, and to make the lions’ heads visible and powerful.

When used on its own, on the fashion items, the wordmark is written in a larger size and looks modern and solid, especially in the brand’s signature monochrome palette.

For Tod’s packaging, the brand chooses orange and chocolate brown color combination, which is a reflection of passion and happiness. Placed on a bright branded boxes, Tod’s logo looks remarkable and elegant, reflecting the company’s value of quality and comfort.
