Olay Logo PNG

Olay is a line of skincare products. It is one of Procter & Gamble’s brands.

Meaning and history

The first Olay cosmetics were developed in 1950 by chemist Graham Wolfe. At that time the scientist and his wife Dina were living in South America and were engaged in the production of cosmetics sold in pharmacies. But the European preparations were not suitable for the dry and hot African climate, so the couple had to develop preparations capable of keeping moisture in the skin as long as possible and protecting it from external influences.

35 years after its creation Procter&Gamble bought the Olay brand. Today Olay is recognized as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of skin care products.

What is Olay?
Olay is the name of an internationally recognized brand of skin care products, which was established in the 1950s, and today has a huge line of cosmetic remedies, which are being distributed all over the globe.

1952

The original Olay logo looked like a shield housing an intricate roundel emblem and the old name of the product, “Oil of Ulay.”

1999

The shield was simplified, the lettering “Olay” now dominated the design.

2000

The background shape disappeared. The figure inside the roundel now featured a woman’s face.

2006

There was some experimenting with the typeface and the position of the emblem.

2010

The female face emblem grew black-and-white. The wordmark could be used on its own.

2017

The type was modified and adopted a horizontal bar below. The roundel emblem disappeared.

Font and Color

The elegant uppercase lettering from the primary Olay logo is set in a fancy sans-serif font with smooth ends of the bars and stable contours of the letters. The closest fonts to the one, used in this insignia, are, probably, Bodrum Sweet 14 Regular, or Sabler Titling Ext Regular, but with the horizontal bar of the “A” shortened, and the ends of the lines softened.
