One of the most popular Italian fashion houses, Moschino was established in 1983. It is best known for its luxury leather accessories, shoes, luggage, and fragrances.

Moschino is the name of the iconic Italian fashion brand, which was established in 1983 and named after its founder, Franco Moschino. The brand is known for its bright and provocative collections for men and women, as well as for its luxury leather accessories, shoes, luggage, and fragrances.

Meaning and history

Moschino is a high-end Italian brand specializing in the production of men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, shoes, accessories, and perfumes. It also produces underwear and swimwear. Moschino’s philosophy is an ironic attitude to fashion. And the most recognizable element of the brand’s collections is its provocative inscriptions and funny prints.

In 1983, Italian designer Franco Moschino, who has always been passionate about fashion, registered the Moschino Couture brand. Subsequently, the brand was renamed Moschino. In the first years after its foundation, the brand has been designing collections of women’s clothing in casual style, which gradually transformed into a unique Moschino style, instantly recognizable and very daring.

Today the brand has several lines of clothing and accessories for women, men, and children. Moschino also produces perfume under its label, and gadget cases, which are incredibly popular all over the globe.

What is Moschino?

Moschino is a luxury Italian fashion brand, named after its founder, Franco Moschino, and known all over the globe as one of the boldest and most provocative fashion labels. The brand has collections for women, men, and kids.

As for the visual identity of the iconic Italian fashion house, it is very minimalistic yet stable and evokes a sense of excellence and power. The black logotype is something solid and timeless, the most concrete and serious thing in the brand’s collections, which balances provocative and outrageous designs of the collections.

???? – Today

The Moschino logo is deliberately simple. You can see nothing but plain sans serif letters that seem to say nothing about the brand and its style. It can be mentioned among such minimalist emblems as the Hugo Boss logo, the Celine logo, or the Calvin Klein logo.

The only distinctive feature is probably the way the letters are squeezed together. As the name of the brand is rather long, the designers decided to make the glyphs higher and narrower and place them very close to each other.

Font and color

The uppercase Moschino logotype is set in a modern heavy sans-serif typeface with narrowed letters, thick lines, and straight cuts of the bars. The tall capitals of the inscription are set in a custom type, which is pretty close to such fonts as Chuterolk Bold and Opinion Pro Extra Condensed Bold, but with some contours modified.

As for the color palette of the Moschino visual identity — there is none. The logotype is set in black on a plain white background, with no color effects. Despite its simplicity, the black lettering looks really great for the brand, as its clothes and accessories are where the color is needed, and the black-and-white tag is something that makes it all look stable and confident.
