LSI is a brand of a renowned technology company, which focuses on semiconductor and software development, design and production. Established in 1981 in California, USA, today LSI is owned by Avago Technologies, a leading global supplier of analogue and optoelectronic components.

Meaning and history

LSI is a major company that designs and manufactures storage applications and is also one of the leading manufacturers of the fastest server and storage systems.

Founded in 1981, for twenty-seven years the company has been the sole manufacturer and developer of the first SCSI chips as well as data storage. In addition, the company is the world’s largest and most recognized manufacturer of adapters and controllers SCSI/SAS/SATA, RAID. To date, on the world market, perhaps, there are no other manufacturers that can compare reliability and functionality with LSI hardware and server options.

LSI Corporation is headquartered in Milpitas, California (USA). On May 6, 2014, LSI Corporation was acquired by Broadcom Limited, formerly Avago Technologies.

Avago Technologies is a Singapore-based company with headquarters in Singapore and San Jose, California. Its history began in 1961 when Hewlett-Packard organized a department engaged in research and development in several hi-tech industries. In 1999, Agilent Technologies was founded based on this department, to which all HP businesses not directly related to computers, information storage, and image processing were transferred. The Agilent IPO was one of the most significant in the history of Silicon Valley.

1981 – 2007

The logo is done in a white and blue color palette. The “LSI LOGIC” was printed using uppercase characters with cupped serifs and wide spacing between the letters. The typeface resembled a font called Gilbert. The first word was printed in blue, while the second was done in white and placed at the top of a blue square. The color palette is a classic choice of well-known and trusted brands.

2007 – Today


LSI is an abbreviation of Large-Scale Integration, the process of embedding transistors on a semiconductor. The LSI Logic refers to the host bus adapter that provides capacity to internal server storage rays in computers.

The LSI logo is a modest gray wordmark with a colorful icon. The icon is composed of 3 pairs of rays, forming a flower and symbolizing computer storage.

The color palette of the logo is gray for the clean and smooth wordmark, and blue, green and orange for the graphic icon.

The LSI logo looks technological and professional, yet light and easy, due to the right use of colors.

Font and color

The bold uppercase lettering from the official logo of the LSO company is set in a distinctive sans-serif typeface with extended contours of the characters and straight cuts of the lines. The closest fonts to the one, used in this insignia, are, probably, Ultra System, or ATFreg Wedding Gothic.

As for the color palette of the LSI visual identity, it has a light shade of gray as the basic color, and bright shades of green, blue, and orange for the emblem. This scheme represents both the practical and professional side of the company’s philosophy and its creative part.
