LensCrafters is a brand of eyewear retailer, which was established in 1983 in the USA. Today the label is a part of the Italian Luxottica Group and sells its items in over one thousand locations across the globe.
LensCrafters, founded in the early 1980s in America, has been part of the Luxottica Group’s retail division since 1995. Among the brands that LensCrafters sells are Ray-Ban, Coach, Anne Klein, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gabbana, and many, many others.
LensCrafters specializes not only in selling optics from the world’s leading manufacturers but also in creating and developing innovative lenses that combine unique technologies and modern design. The company is constantly researching and introducing new materials and technologies to provide users with better vision and comfort.
LensCrafters also stands out for their professional approach to customer service. They offer a wide range of services, including comprehensive vision testing and custom lens fitting to meet each client’s needs.
LensCrafters owes its current success to its founder, E. Dean Butler, who perfectly assessed the American market and offered customers exactly what they were missing. Although the company was sold to the United States Shoe Corporation a year after its founding, the founder remained CEO for three more years.
Eventually, seven years after Dean Butler left, the company was bought by the Italian Luxottica group, which merged with the French Essilor, forming EssilorLuxottica in 2018.
What is LensCrafters?
LensCrafters is the name of one of the largest eyewear retailers in the United States. Established in 1983, it was acquired by the world’s leader in the segment, Luxottica in 1995, and merged with its main competitor, Pearle Vision in 2004, leaving everyone else behind.
The wordmark is written in a clean sans-serif typeface with simple yet neat lines. The gray color of the lettering makes it look elegant and professional. Both parts of the brand’s name start with the capital letter, but there is no space between “Lens” and “Crafters”.
The LensCrafters emblem is what makes the logo eye-catching and memorable. It is composed of two small symbols — a red heart and an eye. They are just slightly bigger than the lowercase letters of the nameplate and are placed one after another.
The symbols look like a continuation of the wordmark — “LensCrafters loves your eyes”. It is a very interesting and uncommon use of the emblem in the brand’s logo.
The emoji-style icons show the brand as creative and having a young spirit. The LensCrafters insignia characterizes the company as the one that values design and quality above all.
