ELLE is a French lifestyle magazine, founded in 1945 by Pierre Lazareva and his wife Helene Gordon. ELLE is now published in 44 countries with a focus on fashion and all other things exciting for women.
Elle is a world-famous magazine of French origin dedicated to fashion, beauty, lifestyle, health, and entertainment. It was founded in 1945 by Ellen Gordon-Lazarev and her husband, journalist Pierre Lazarev.
The first issue of the magazine appeared on November 21, 1945. It instantly became fantastically popular, although it was published on paper of very poor quality because, in the post-war period, it was very difficult to find other papers.
For a long time, the creators of the magazine were part-time and its chief editors. They developed the concept of a unique women’s magazine, which works to this day. It was in Elle that they began to write about Dior and Saint Laurent, published patterns so that women could dress according to fashion, and for the first time raised the issues of women’s hygiene. In addition to fashion and beauty, the magazine covered important issues of culture, art, and the structure of society. And this appealed to the female readers of post-war Europe.
The publication quickly gained popularity in France. Fifteen years after the first issue, almost a million women across Europe read Elle.
In 1985, Elle was bought out by Daniel Phillipacci and Jean-Luc Lagardieu. This is how the magazine first hit the American market. Soon women from 25 other countries were able to hold the famous magazine in their hands.
Today Elle is the largest international magazine on fashion, beauty, and health. It includes 39 national publishers and is published in 60 countries. In addition to the print version, the magazine has about 20 websites on the Internet. The first online version of Elle magazine appeared in 2010.
ELLE is an iconic magazine and its logo is highly recognizable all over the world. The font for Elle Magazine is Didot, Serif in nature, which compliments the polish of the Spread. The branding of the magazine is synonymous with the logo.
ELLE uses a classic monochrome color scheme for its logo. Sometimes it’s a white lettering on a black background, sometimes — black typeface on white. ELLE also experiment with the geometric shape of its icon – the square is used more commonly, but there is also a circle version of the icon.
