The online multiplayer video game Destiny was created by Bungie. The company has never given any official explanation of the Destiny logo so far, so there are quite a few theories about the meaning of the emblem.
The release of the Destiny game in 2014 was a real event in the world of gaming. This unique blend of first-person shooter with RPG elements, characterized by dynamic gameplay and detailed world is considered to be one of the most expensive video games in history. And behind all this is not an unknown company Bungie.
The studio was founded in 1991 by two University of Chicago students, and today they are one of the most respected developers in the world of video games. It is Bungie that owns the cult shooter series Halo, which once made Microsoft Corporation golden and brought huge popularity to the Xbox consoles. Later Bungie left Microsoft’s wing and now they are a part of Activision.
So, about Destiny. This is undoubtedly the most ambitious game from the legendary studio. Destiny is not a bit similar to any modern game, which makes it 100% unique. The world of the game is populated by many different factions and characters, each with their history and motivations. This makes the process of immersion in the game truly exciting when players not only fight with enemies but also become part of an epic saga unfolding in the background of incredible space expanses.
The game received incredible popularity and the highest reviews, so the second part of the saga, Destiny 2, was released in 2017. And in 2024 it became known about the planned release of a version of the legendary game for mobile devices, called Destiny: Rising.
The logo nicknamed the Tricorn could refer to the class (Titan, Worlock, and Hunter) or the race (Awoken, Human, and Exo), or three wolves in a pack, while the bit in the middle could represent the Traveler. Some players believe The Tricorn represents a humanoid holding his arms up welcoming the Traveler.
One of the most popular explanations is based on the fact that the emblem resembles a wolf’s muzzle. In the game, there are quite a few references to the guardians being wolves. The wolf motifs can be seen on the armor and on the Iron Banner. Also, some players remember the first trailer for the game, where the strength of the wolf in the pack was discussed. In addition to this, the Traveler has been nicknamed Alpha Lupi (Prime Wolf) in the Grimoire.
Many players assume that the logo was inspired by the Master Chief’s crotch plate. Although this explanation seems more of a joke, we cannot deny the obvious similarity between the emblem and this piece of the Master Chief’s costume.
The wordmark is given in a clear sans serif uppercase typeface.
The white and grey shades of the Destiny logo have a metallic feel.
