Weleda is a multinational company, established in 1920 by Rudolf Steiner, an Austrian philosopher, and Ita Wegman, a Dutch gynecologist. The company produces both beauty products and naturopathic medicines. The Headquarters is based in Switzerland.

Meaning and history

The brand Weleda is named after a priestess of healing, a real historical personality who lived at the beginning of the Christian era.

The Weleda logo dates back to the very formation of the company in 1921, when founding philosopher Rudolf Steiner wanted to express the company’s strength of purpose in a graphic, symbolic way which would stir deep associations.

The symbol of Weleda has three parts: a central, upright staff; a weaving spiral form and two interacting outer segments. The staff was inspired by Mercury, messenger of the gods, and stands for truth and dependability, symbolizing the connection between earth and heaven.

The color of the logo is grass-green, as Weleda is known for using green energy and natural ingredients for its products.
