Meaning and history

The red star in the center of the USA South Athletic Conference logo is somewhat reminiscent of the Soviet Union, in spite of the blue shades. Strangely, the emblem also seems to be inspired by the symbolism of the Flag of the United States, although the shades of red and blue are somewhat different from those used on the national flag of the US. The little white stars seen below the larger one only reinforce this similarity.
