What is Tork?
Tork is a worldwide known brand of hygiene products, such as paper towels and napkins. The brand is owned by the large Essity Corporation and has its products distributed all over the globe.
In terms of visual identity, Tork has been very consistent and conservative, finding its idea logo at the very beginning of the brand’s history, and only slightly refining it throughout the years.
The original Tork logo, introduced at the end of the 1960s, has been in use by the brand for more than thirty years and became the basis for the future redesign. It was a contoured blue flag, stylized as a folded paper towel, with the narrowed and slightly italicized “Tork” inscription in blue, executed in a modern sans-serif typeface, on it. The logo was usually placed on a light blue background, representing freshness and cleanliness.
At the beginning of the 2000s, the logo was redrawn in a more modern and confident way, with the deep blue shade used not for the lettering, but the background of the badge now. The folded structure of the banner was replaced by a flat one, and now the waving Tork flag in dark blue is accompanied by a smooth curved line set above it. As for the lettering, it is set in white (or transparent, when the badge is placed on any background rather than white), and features a more massive and wide style of the sans-serif typeface. Sometimes the official logo can be accompanied by the brand’s motto, “Think Ahead”.
