Thomas & Betts is a company specializing in connectors and components for electrical and communication markets.

Meaning and history

The history of the brand started in 1898. The company has been known as the inventor of cable ties used in airplanes (1958).
In 2012, Thomas & Betts was purchased by ABB, a Swiss-Swedish multinational corporation headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland.

Emblem

Thomas logo can be described as a wordmark as it does not contain pictorial elements, just the name of the company.
The design forces behind the brand opted for a highly legible sans serif typeface. The letters are italicized, which adds a dynamic touch. The dynamism of the design is reinforced by the shape of the double “t.” The top ends of both the letters are diagonal. They continue the upward motion started by the italicized letters, which symbolizes optimism and readiness to embrace the future.

While there are no real pictures in the logo, the shape of the “&” adds an artistic touch. The glyph is white with beautiful thin blue trim emphasizing its elegant curves.

Colors

The only color used in the Thomas & Betts logo, apart from the white background, is blue. The authors of the logo have opted for a calm, muted shade that creates a serious and businesslike impression.
