Meaning and history

One of the oldest American baseball leagues, the Texas League, has been operating in Texas and neighboring states since the beginning of the twentieth century. The League is a part of Minor League Baseball which is the second-tier baseball association in the United States.

Today Texas League is composed of ten members, where five clubs are from Texas, and the other five are from Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri.

What is Texas League?
Texas League is the name of an American baseball association, established in 1902, and affiliated withMinor League Baseball the second-tier league. Texas League consists of ten clubs, five of which are from Texas, and others from four more states.

1900s – 2015

The very first badge of the Texas League has stayed with the organization for more than a century, which is quite impressive. The badge featured a horizontally-oriented composition with an enlarged white Baseball with red stitched set against a solid blue background in the left part of the badge, accompanied by a solid white five-pointed star and two weaving ribbons in white and red, elongated to the right. The lettering was placed under the banner in two levels, with blue and red characters.

2016 – Today

There’s every possibility that the logo of the Texas League has been inspired by the emblems of the Major League and Minor League. The Texas League logo features a player clutching a baseball bat in his hands. There’s a white and red flag behind him, and the player divides the flag into two parts (the same approach is used on the Minor and Major League emblems). Also, there’s a large white star behind the player.

Earlier, the League used a logo depicting a large white baseball with red seams and a smaller star. The design was placed on a dark blue background.

Font and Color

The uppercase lettering from the primary Texas League badge is set in a bold and modern sans-serif typeface with softened contours and rounded letters of the slightly-narrowed characters. The closest fonts to the one, used in this insignia, are, probably, Ignazio Regular or Autogate Sans Rough, but with some modifications of the characters’ contours.

As for the color palette of the Texas League visual identity, it is based on a bright and intense patriotic color combination, consisting of red, blue, and white. These three shades not only represent the patriotic spirit and the American heritage of the league but also evoke a sense of professionalism, strength, and determination.
