What is TAROM?
TAROM is the flag carrier airline of Romania. It operates both domestic and international flights to various destinations across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. With a history dating back to 1954, TAROM is known for providing reliable air travel services and maintaining a modern fleet of aircraft.

1954 – 1960

The first Tarom logo was created in 1955 and stayed with the company for just six years. It was quite a minimalistic composition with bold white lettering on a sky-blue background. The inscription was set in a stylized extra-bold sans-serif font with the lowercase characters slanted and some of the bars elongated.

1960 – 1992

The redesign of 1960 introduced a completely different composition in a black and red color palette. The new concept featured a red and white emblem with a stylized plane enclosed into a circular frame and bold black lowercase lettering in an elegant font.

1992 – 1995

In 1992 the emblem was enlarged, redrawn in blue, and placed above the wordmark. As for the lettering, it was completely redesigned and was now written in the uppercase of a stylized geometric sans-serif typeface with small cut-out details.

1995

The white roundel of the emblem was placed on a solid blue wing of a plane in 1995. The right part of the wing was decorated with a narrow red, yellow, and blue-black. The lettering was also refined, with the uppercase characters gaining stricter and more geometric contours.

1995 – 2015

The redesign of 1995 has refined the previous composition, redrawing the emblem in thin white lines, and switching the flag to a thin vertical one. The lettering got more distinctive and the “Romanian Air Transport” tagline was more visible and clean. Overall, the image started looking more professional and refined.

2015 – now

The minimalistic approach was adopted for the Tarom logo in 2015. The blue wing with a white emblem on it had no additional colors. Also, the primary version now has no lettering after the emblem.
