Stinol is a Russian brand of refrigerators and fridge cameras manufacturer. The brand was founded in 1989 and was sold to Merloni in 2000, and now it produces its appliances under the names Indesit and Hotpoint-Ariston.

Meaning and history

The name Stinol is an acronym for “Novolipetsk steel”, Novolipetsk is where the main brand’s plant was located. The Stinol logo is an all-caps black strict wordmark with modern lines of the sans serif font and a snowflake symbol on its left. The snowflake is a frame for the brand’s signifier — the geometrically executed letter “N” (for Novolipetsk), which is framed in a square without two corners and is diagonally separated into two parts. The monochrome palette of the logo makes it more confident and serious and lets all the elements of the emblem stay visible.
