The logo of the Swiss luxury watchmaker and jeweler Piaget SA seems to stand somewhere beyond any historic era – this design is as timeless as the brand itself.
When Georges Piaget created a workshop on the family farm in the small village of La Côte-aux-Fées in 1874, he couldn’t even have dreamt that this was the start of something that would once become a globally known watch brand. Today, the brand is among the most prestigious Swiss luxury watchmakers and jewelers.
However, the success wasn’t easy and quick – the company began to sell its own line of watches only in the 20th century. Even today, all parts are made in Switzerland, while the brand’s stores are located in 80 countries.
As the Piaget logo doesn’t contain anything else apart from the name of the brand, the typeface is the central element of its style. The distinctive sharp ends of the serifs and letters create a very unusual and highly memorable effect. The letters are of different heights, which only reinforces the unique style of the emblem.
The default color scheme for the Piaget logo is the combination of black (for the logo itself) and white (for the background). However, if you take a look at the way the emblem is actually seen on watch faces, you’ll see that the palette is different. For instance, the lettering can be gold or silver.
