What is Oklahoma State Cowboys?
Oklahoma State Cowboys is the name of an athletic program from the Oklahoma State University, located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The program consists of 16 women’s and men’s sports teams, which compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association in such disciplines as Basketball, Football, Wrestling, and many more.
The old Oklahoma State Cowboys logo used in 1973-2000 depicted a historic character, Old West gunfighter and lawman Frank “Pistol Pete” Eaton.
In 2001, the university decided to replace him with a more neutral typographic logo based on the letters “OSU.” The initials of the university’s name were given in orange over the black background.
The same scheme was used for the 2015 logo. However, here, the athletic emblem has grown completely flat (and thus, easier to reproduce).
The Oklahoma State Cowboys logo redesign of 2019 introduced a strengthened and emboldened version of the badge from 2015. The stylish orange lettering kept its style but was redrawn in bolder lines and placed on a black background, which geometric contours repeated the shape of the inscription, and outlines in the thick orange frame. The new color contrast made the logo powerful and full of energy.
