OAPEC Logo PNG

OAPEC is an abbreviation standing for the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries, an international organization, established in 1968, and headquartered in Kuwait. Today OAPEC consists of eleven countries, six of which are also members of OPEC.

Meaning and history

OAPEC was founded in 1968 by Kuwait, Libya, and Saudi Arabia, and its other members include Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Qatar, Syria, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates. Although they have several members in common, OPEC is separate and distinct from the OPEC’s (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) cartel of 12 countries, which plays a key role in determining world oil prices. OAPEC sponsors joint ventures among its member countries to promote resource efficiency and economic integration among Arab countries.

Kuwait, Libya, and Saudi Arabia signed an agreement in Beirut on January 9, 1968, establishing the OAPEC and agreeing that the organization would be based in the State of Kuwait. By 1982, the number of members had increased to 11. In 1986, Tunisia submitted a withdrawal request, and it was accepted by the Council of Ministers.

What is OAPEC?
OAPEC, the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries, is an intergovernmental organization based in Kuwait that promotes cooperation among 11 Arab oil-exporting countries. OAPEC was founded in 1968.

In terms of visual identity, OPEC has always been consistent, keeping its original logo, designed at the end of the 1960s, completely unchanged. The bold bright emblem of the organization is usually accompanied by lettering with the abbreviation on top and its deciphering under it.

1968 – Today

The OAPEC logo is composed of two parts — a bold bright graphical emblem, the seal of the organization, and a lettering, which is not always used with it. The OAPEC emblem boasts a solid electric blue roundel with a stylized light-blue floral ornament in circular lines, drawn in the middle, and outlined by an intense yellow Arabic lettering written from the inside of the badge, around its perimeter. The inscription parts are usually placed on the right of the emblem, it n bright blue, with the “OAPEC” in bold lines set on top, and the “Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries” in smaller characters and thinner lines set under it in three levels.

Font and color

The clean and strict lettering from the official OAPEC logo is set in a modern geometric sans-serif typeface with the upper line executed in bold lines with the characters enlarged. The closest fonts to the one, used in this insignia, are, probably, Mayberry WGL SemiBold, or SST Bold.

As for the color palette of the OAPEC visual identity, it is based on a combination of two shades of blue — with an intense electric blue as a symbol of confidence, and light blue, standing for trustworthiness and reliability. The blue shades are accompanied by intense yellow, representing energy and power.
