New Orleans Privateers is a sports program of the University of New Orleans, USA. The program consists of 14 men’s and women’s clubs that compete in the First Division of National Collegiate Athletic Association in such sports disciplines as Baseball, Basketball, Golf, and others.
The inception of the New Orleans Privateers traces back to the foundational days of the University of New Orleans in 1958. This marked the beginning of a journey in NCAA Division I athletics, where the Privateers carved out a distinct identity. Their journey in sports, especially in basketball, baseball, and track and field, is highlighted by remarkable achievements. These include memorable participations in the NCAA basketball tournaments and commendable performances in regional and national baseball circuits. As time progressed, the New Orleans Privateers have maintained a dynamic presence in the collegiate sports arena, constantly evolving and upholding the sporting legacy of New Orleans with their ongoing endeavors.
