Malmo is the name of a Swedish football club, which was established in 1910. Today the club, nicknamed “The Blue Ones” (“Di blae” in Swedish) is coached by Jon Dahl Tomasson and has Anders Paladin as the President.

Meaning and history

The visual identity of the Swedish football club has been built around one crest for many many years. It was redesigned only once during the club’s history, and that redesign was almost unnoticed, as it was only about the shade of the main team’s color and the wordmark’s typeface.

The first logo for Malmo was composed of a simple crest with a geometric upper part, resembling an old castle wall with five square towers. The main body of the crest had three bold vertical stripes — two in blue, and one white in the middle. The upper part of the crest was colored white and comprised “MFF” lettering in traditional sans-serif with solid blue dots separating the letters.

The “Malmö FF” wordmark was arched under the crest and over a smooth six-pointed Star. Both elements were in the same blue shade. The inscription was executed in an elegant sans-serif typeface.

With the redesign the blue color of the Malmo badge became lighter and brighter, the star from the bottom of the logo became stricter and gained sharper angles, and the wordmark is now written in a bold serif font with elegant clean lines.

The only new element of the badge is a yellow-gold Star in gradient colors and a thin black outline placed above the crest.
