LIDOM is an abbreviation standing for the Professional Baseball League of the Dominican Republic, which was established in 1951, and played its first official season in 1955. The baseball organization is known for its winter series of games and has six teams-members.
LIDOM is the most reputable professional baseball organization in the Dominican Republic, which was established at the beginning of the 1950s when there were only four participating clubs from all over the country, and today consists of six teams.
The very first LIDOM Championship in 1951 was won by Tigres del Licey, while the first official season, held in 1955, — was by Leones del Escogido, the club with the most won seasons in the history of LIDOM. The Champions of the league in the 2021/2022 season are Gigantes del Cibao, which only won once before, in 2014.
Today both champions of the first league’s years, Tigres del Licey and Leones del Escogido are still playing in LIDOM, along with four more clubs, which create a good competition each winter season.
What is LIDOM?
LIDOM is the most reputable baseball league in the Dominican Republic, which was established at the beginning of the 1950s. The abbreviation stands for Liga de Beisbol Profesional de La República Dominicana and is a professional organization, which holds baseball championships every winter season and has six team-members.
In terms of visual identity, the professional baseball league from the Dominican Republic is fresh and modern. The badge is executed in a very traditional baseball color palette — blue, red, and white, and features bold sharp lines, and professional execution.
Stylish and dynamic, the LIDOM logo is a combination of several meaningful pictorial elements. On the forefront, there’s a highly stylized depiction of the flag of the Dominican Republic. Behind it, a baseball can be noticed. On the background, there’s a three-dimensional home plate in cool metallic shades of grey.
The lettering “LIDOM” is placed above the design, while the motto “Vive Tu Pelota” can be seen below. When the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League logo is placed inside a plain black or navy-blue rectangular, both lettering parts of the badge are written in white, while in the original version, when the emblem is set on white, the wordmarks are executed in navy blue.
