While both the old Lehigh Mountain Hawks logo and the current one feature the same bird, the updated logo is more minimalistic.
The inception of the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, the athletic emblem of Lehigh University, traces back to the university’s own origins in 1865, founded by the visionary Asa Packer. This sporting division, blossoming alongside the institution, has etched its name in the annals of college sports with a blend of tradition, tenacity, and triumphs.
Delving into their chronicles, the Mountain Hawks have carved out a niche in several sports, but their prowess is profoundly noted in wrestling, football, and basketball realms. Wrestling has been a bastion of their strength, consistently propelling Lehigh to the zenith with an assembly of All-Americans and national champions. The football front is embellished with multiple Patriot League titles, echoing the thrill of their enduring rivalry with Lafayette College – a saga painted with passion and celebrated annually in one of college football’s oldest contests. In basketball, their 2012 seismic victory over Duke in the NCAA Tournament stands as a testament to their underdog spirit and strategic mastery. These milestones are not mere accolades but reflections of the Mountain Hawks’ relentless pursuit of sporting excellence.
In the current sports landscape, the Lehigh Mountain Hawks continue to soar, embodying a blend of historical richness and contemporary competitiveness in NCAA Division I. Their ongoing journey is a tapestry of athletic vigor, institutional pride, and an unwavering commitment to sporting distinction.
