Klipsch is a brand of American loudspeaker company, founded in 1946 by Paul W. Klipsch. The company produces loudspeaker drivers and enclosures, as well as complete loud speakers.
The company was founded in 1946 by pioneering, talented acoustic engineer Paul Wilbur Klipsch. Initially, the company was registered under the name “Klipsch and Associates” in the city of Hope (Arkansas). In the earliest stages, the speakers were handcrafted by Paul Klipsch himself. The first patent was issued in 1945 and the speaker was called Klipschorn. The Klipschorn remains one of the most famous speakers in the world, and the only one that has been in production for over 60 years. However, Paul Klipsch didn’t stop with the creation of Klipschorn. Nowadays, every second new cinema in North and South America chooses Klipsch equipment.
The Klipsch icon features a corner loudspeaker. The principle involved is that all speakers work better in a corner, regardless of the basic speaker design. The logo depicts a loudspeaker emitting sound waves. It radiates as circular wave fronts, which in a corner environment would be quadrants of circles.
The choice of seven for the number of wave fronts was prompted by the passage in the Bible referring to the seven good years followed by the seven lean years. Seven seems to have been a good choice to illustrate sound radiating from a loudspeaker.
The Klipsch logo is an oval framed wordmark with a geometric graphic element below it. It is drawn using monochrome palette and looks classy and timeless. The wordmark is executed in elegant sans serif, with bold bright lettering.
The updated logo features the same font as in the previous version, which resembles Nuber Next Black Wide. However, it looks very different from the logo people used to see as there is no more background, just the name. It is printed in black, which has been used by the company earlier. This logo has a more timeless and universal appearance thanks to its simplicity and elegant, sophisticated black color.
