Juice WRLD is the artistic name of Jarad Anthony Higgins, an American rap singer who was born in 1998 and died in 2019, at the age of 21. The musician was very popular in the rap and hip-hop industry and was known for his “Lucid Dreams” single, released in 2018, just a year before his tragic death.
Jared Higgins was born on December 2, 1998, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Higgins’ parents divorced when he was three years old. And already at the age of four, he learned to play the piano. In high school, Jared became interested in rock and pop music and began playing guitar and drums. So Music was with the artist throughout his short life.
The young man recorded his first tracks on a cell phone. Influenced by the music of Tupac Shakur, and also inspired by his role in the movie Juice, Jared took the pseudonym JuicetheKidd. Then Higgins changed it to Juice Wrld (because the name “represents a takeover of the world,” the musician said in one of his interviews).
Juice Wrld rose to fame in 2017 by posting two of his songs, Lucid Dreams and All Girls Are The Same, on the music-sharing platform SoundCloud. The tracks quickly became popular and brought him fame. A year later, in 2018, Juice Wrld was the most listened-to artist on SoundCloud.
In the song Lucid Dreams, the rapper used samples of Sting’s 1993 hit Shape of My Heart. Sting himself later called Lucid Dreams “a really good song” and said he was impressed with the composition. After the success of SoundCloud, Juice Wrld signed a multi-million dollar contract with Interscope Records.
While still in school, Higgins started taking drugs, which seriously undermined his health: in his last year of school he was forced to drop out because of health problems. They were also the cause of his death – the musician died of an overdose.
There was only one official logo, created for Juice WRLD. It was a badge full of color and energy, designed in 2015. A very “juicy” pink and orange color palette was adopted for a hand-drawn logotype with the musician’s name, placed over a horizontally stretched banner with the flame-lite top part and rounded bottom angles. Like everything the singer did, this logo was memorable and eye-catching, a bit provocative, and very dynamic.
