1937 – 1978

The original IcelandAir logo was created in 1937 and featured an elegant image of a white Pegasus inscribed into a blue roundel. The emblem was accompanied by a two-leveled inscription — with the English name of the company set in blue capitals, and the local name — in smaller red ones.

1978 – 1999

The redesign of 1978 introduced a modern vision of the Pegasus. The new emblem featured two blue ribbons, resembling the wing of the mythological creature from the previous badge. It was placed on the right from the black slanted inscription in the uppercase of a modern geometric sans-serif typeface.

1999 – 2022

In 1999 the IcelandAir logo was changed again, with the ribbons turning yellow and being placed on a solid blue airplane tail, on the right from the blue uppercase lettering with the first letter enlarged. The inscription was set in a very sophisticated font with small triangular serifs on the ends of the bars.

2022 – now

The redesign of 2022 has switched the color palette of the IcelandAir visual identity to blue and white, and the typeface of the wordmark — to a geometric sans-serif one. Now all the letters are set in one size, which creates a very balanced and confident image.
