What is Fordham Rams?
What is Fordham Rams? It’s an athletic program of Fordham University, competing in NCAA Division I sports, especially known for its football and basketball teams.
The 1941 emblem was literally nothing but a ram’s head. The creature looked pretty sad, we should say.
The ram remained the central element of the 1994 logo, but the expression of its muzzle changed – it was now determined and aggressive. The word “Fordham” could be seen below.
In 2001, the head of the ram grew smaller, while the lettering became larger and moved above.
The current Fordham Rams logo, which was adopted in 2008, features a completely different ram. We can see an angled front view of his head next to a large “F” in red on a grey background with white and black trim.
The men’s basketball team was fielded in 1902. So far, the team has competed in four NCAA Tournaments and sixteen NITs. The women’s team has competed one time in the NCAA Tournament, the WNIT, and the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament.
The university fielded its first football team in 1882. Since 1978, the Rams have competed in the I-AA/FCS playoffs five times.
