Fight Club is the name of a movie by David Finches, which was released in 1999. The movie is fully based on Chuck Palahniuk’s novel, telling a story of the Narrator (Edward Norton), who gets to meet Tyler (Brad Pitt), a member of the fight club, and their further relationships.
The text-based Fight Club visual identity was designed at the end of the 1990s but looks like it was created today, as it is very modern and progressive, despite the absence of any graphical details and ornaments.
The unique custom wordmark is executed in a bold italicized sans-serif and set in two levels, with the letters of the upper one slightly smaller than the ones from the bottom level.
When placed one above another, the letters of the inscription merge, and it makes the whole image smoother and evokes a sense of unity and balance.
The Fight Club logo, which can be executed in two various color palettes, black and red, uses a simple sans-serif font and modernizes it with simple techniques. The font the logotype is based on looks very similar to Ramston Condensed Italic or Sugo Pro Display Italic.
The most unique features of the inscription are the shortened upper part of the letter “G”, the bottom part of the “C”, and the vertical bar of the “B”. The upper part of the “B” is elongated and merged into “U”.
When executed in monochrome, the logo looks simple yet chic, ready to be placed on any poster or even fashion item. When it comes to the red inscription, it can be put on a white or pink background, representing passion, desperation, and power.
