Embassy Suites is a hotel company that originally focused on providing more space and amenities than traditional hotel rooms, catering to guests seeking comfort and convenience. It provided spacious two-room suites that included a separate living area and bedroom. Embassy Suites still stands out in the hospitality industry for its commitment to providing spacious accommodations and a guest-friendly atmosphere, aiming to create a home-like experience for travelers. The brand continues to evolve in response to market demands and trends, emphasizing sustainability, modern amenities, and digital experiences for guests.

Meaning and History

Embassy Suites was established in 1984 by Robert L. Smith in the United States. The first hotel opened in Chicago, Illinois. The brand quickly gained popularity, and more locations were developed across the country. In 1989, Embassy Suites was acquired by Promus Hotel Corporation, which also owned several other hotel brands. Ten years later, Hilton Hotels Corporation acquired Promus Hotel Corporation, which included Embassy Suites. This acquisition significantly expanded Hilton’s presence in the all-suite hotel market. While Embassy Suites is primarily known in the United States, the brand has also expanded its presence internationally, opening hotels in various countries.

What is Embassy Suites?
Embassy Suites is a brand of hotels within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio. It is known for its all-suite accommodations and complimentary amenities such as cooked-to-order breakfasts and evening receptions. The hotel chain primarily targets business and leisure travelers.

1984 – 1989

The original logo of Embassy Suites featured a simple yet elegant design that reflected the brand’s commitment to comfort and hospitality. The logo included the words “Embassy Suites” in classic, bold lettering. It is accompanied by a stylized drawing of a lion. Combined with a black-and-white color palette, it suggested power, luxury, and sophistication.

1989 – 1991

A new color palette included rich and inviting red tones, which conveyed a sense of warmth, sophistication, and power. All other elements remained unchanged. The overall aesthetic was oriented towards conveying a sense of upscale living while maintaining a friendly and approachable feel. The combination of typography and graphic elements aimed to establish Embassy Suites as a premium, all-suite hotel brand.

1991 – 2000

This Embassy Suites logo features a modern and sleek design with a focus on clarity and professionalism. The logo typically includes the words “Embassy Suites” in a bold and more contemporary font that was featured in earlier emblems. The exception is that all the letters have the same height. The inscription is accompanied by a stylized emblem with a large “E” that highlights the brand’s upscale and welcoming nature. The color palette often incorporates black and white, reflecting a sense of comfort and sophistication.

2000 – Today

In 2000 the Embassy Suites logo was refined and modernized. The concept remained the same, but the emblem was now redrawn in a lively turquoise and white color palette, and the extended lettering (with the “Hotels” added) changed its typeface to a more distinctive and sharp serif with the extended contours of the characters and more space in between the letters.

Font and Color

Nazanin Bold font, Palatino Bold Old Style Figures font, and Marathon Serial Bold font but with extra wide spacing are fonts that closely resemble the one seen in the early versions. In 1991, the font looked very similar to the original with the exception of the shape of serifs. The font looks more like ASV Codar Bold font, 2000  Nimrod Small Ads MT Bold font, or URW Antiqua ExtraWide ExtraBold font

With the exception of a relatively short period when the company used burgundy as its main color, the Embassy Suites logo featured a classic black-and-white color palette. It creates a sophisticated, timeless, and powerful brand image. The burgundy is also a powerful color that evokes associations with strong, confident, and sophisticated company.
