Meaning and history

The Akai logo is a bright red all-caps wordmark in a classic sans serif font. It’s neat and simple yet very recognizable due to its color.

The typeface used in the Akai logo is very similar to ITC Cheltenham Ultra, which is a display font originally designed by architect Bertram Goodhue and Ingalls Kimball in 1896. The Cheltenham font is used in many logos, movie posters and album covers.

The scarlet red is the main color of the Akai palette. It symbolizes energy and power of the brand, while giving a warm feeling at the same time.

The Akai logo is an example of the confident brand visual identity. Very minimalistic yet eye-catching.
