A7X is a short name for the Avenged Sevenfold, a heavy-metal music band from the United States. The group was formed in 1999 and became famous after its debut album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. By today the band has released 7 albums and sold more than 8 million copies worldwide.
The logo of the metal band is an icon in the music world. Its visual identity, composed of an emblem and a wordmark around it is very well recognizable across the globe and has become synonymous to the group and its style.
The famous Deathbat has been in use by A7X since the release of their second album at the beginning of the 2000s. The symbol became instantly popular between the heavy-metal fans and hasn’t left the band since that time.
The Deathbat, also known as a Skullbat, features a skull with two bat wings on both sides. The skull looks brutal, but sometimes when you look at it you can see it smiling.
There are many accusations from the Overkill band, that the logo was stolen from them. As they have been using it in the 1980s. But whatever the truth is, today it is associated with Avenged Sevenfold.
There are two versions of how the logo is used — black on white or white on black, but no other colors present in the band’s visual identity. The monochrome palette fully reflects the music and character of the group.
The nameplate of the band is written in all capitals around the Deathbat. With “Avenged” arched above it and “Sevenfold” — under the image. Both words of the inscription are executed in one typeface, which is a stylish modern serif font with uneven raw lines. The font looks similar to Passport regular but has some of the lines thinner.
Both letters “D” of the nameplate have their upper part slightly erased, which adds uniqueness and individuality to the whole picture, making the logo remarkable.
