Playhouse Disney was launched on April 6, 1997, as part of the Disney Channel. In 2002, Playhouse Disney expanded its reach with the launch of Playhouse Disney as a dedicated channel in some international markets. On June 1, 2011, the children’s channel Playhouse Disney changed its name to Disney Junior as a result of a rebranding. The changes were global. The channel’s programming also changed – new series and shows for children aged 2-7 and their parents were included. Disney Junior has become a standalone channel in addition to its programming on the Disney Channel.

What is Playhouse Disney?
Playhouse Disney (now known as Disney Junior) is an American TV network owned by Walt Disney Television. It played a significant role in shaping early childhood programming and remains a fond memory for many who grew up watching its shows.

The logo is stylized as a TV screen with Mickey Mouse ears on top. The word “Disney” is added on a blue TV screen using the iconic font and yellow and red color palette. The channel name, Playhouse, is added above the TV with the yellow wavy base of a yellow color slightly hiding behind. The name is printed using rounded, lowercase characters that appear to have volume. The characters were done using different fun colors to make it kid-friendly.

2000 – 2011

This logo also features a playful and colorful design that is appealing to young children. This time, they kept only a cloud-like base of yellow color, changed its shape, and added a bright green outline. It had “Playhouse” printed using the same font and making the finish flatter. The “Disney” label is centered underneath and done in a bold red with a barely noticeable shadow.

2001 – 2002

This version looks like a blend of the previous two versions. It uses the first logo as the base. The “Playhouse” cloud with a green border has been used instead of the one featured in that version. The blue TV screen had rings of two different blue shades, while the “Disney” inscription was kept unchanged. The new element in this logo is the “Channel” line printed in black, bold font using all uppercase characters.

2002 – 2011

A new design that incorporated the Mickey Mouse character was introduced in 2002. It has the head of the character peaking from a corner, so the left and bottom parts are partially hidden. It looks almost like the mouse is peaking from a TV screen. The head is done in sunny yellow with an orange and purple outline. The channel name was taken from the logo introduced in 2000 and placed in the center of the head.

2010 – 2011

The Disney Junior logo had a new design developed for it by Royale. It features a simple and playful design that appeals to its young audience. The words “Disney Junior” are written in black (Disney) and red (Junior). For the “Disney” line, the designer used a custom Disney font. This line slightly overlapped the bottom one, creating a cohesive look. This was enhanced with the addition of a small Mickey Mouse head in black instead of the dot above the “i” in “Junior. The latter is printed using a three-dimensional, chunky font with the characters set one right next to the other.
