The University of North Carolina has several logotypes. In addition to the official seal, there are also such instantly recognizable emblems as the Old Well, the NC symbol, the Tar Heel foot, and the Strutting Ram.

The University Seal is based on a shield with a torch on each side. They are encircled with the full name of the school.

One of the most well-known places at the UNC campus, the Old Well used to be the school’s only water source. In the late 1890s, the decrepit wooden construction was replaced by a beautiful rotunda. In this form, the Old Well became the school’s most enduring symbol.

The North Carolina Tar Heels team uses a variety of symbols. In addition to the interlocking letters “N” and “C” (primary logo), they also have an emblem depicting a ram in a hat with the letters “UNC” and a logotype depicting a foot with a round spot on the heel.

Established in 1887, the football team of the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, is currently coached by Brian Kelly.

Out of the 37 Bowl appearances the Fighting Irish have had so far, they won 17 and lost 19, with one game vacated. They have won eight wire service (AP or Coaches’) national championships. Seven football players who competed in the university’s football program have won the Heisman Trophy.

Also, there are forty-five former Notre Dame players and six coaches in the university’s Football Hall of Fame.

The women’s basketball team has been very successful. They became the NCAA Tournament Champions in 2001 and 2018. They were the NCAA Tournament Runner-up on five occasions, while the total number of the NCAA Tournament appearances has reached 26.

As for the men’s team, it has been slightly overshadowed by the women’s team, but still highly competitive. Although they have still never been the champions, as of 2019, they have competed in the NCAA Tournament on 36 occasions. Also, they earned the title of the Pre-tournament Helms Champions in 1927 and 1936 and reached the NCAA Tournament Final Four in 1978.

Besides the serif all-cap type, in which almost all the words on the North Carolina logo are given, there is also an italic font used for the two prepositions.

In addition to the two colors of the official UNC palette, Carolina blue and white, the emblem also features a darker shade of blue for the outline.
