Tri-City Chili Peppers, on the eve of joining the Coastal Plain League, has updated the team set of logos and name.
To choose the name, the team announced a contest among their fans, who took an active part in the arrangement. The last month the most preferred variants were announced, among which were such suggestions as Triceratops, Cucumbers and Tacos. But Tri-City Chili Peppers turned out to be head and shoulders above the rest, and was eventually picked on.
The Skye Design Studios developed the completely new characters for the team emblems, three cheerful chili peppers, playing baseball. The yellow one is throwing, the green is catching, and the red is taking a hefty cut right in the middle.
All the three peppers can be seen in the primary logo, and are placed in a roundel, ornamented with a few flames, traditional sport symbol. Each of the peppers can also be used on their own, presenting secondary logos.
The next year Tri-City will join the summer Coastal Plain League, and start their first season on May 28, 2020, concluding with the Petitt Cup Championship round in the early August. The team will be the fifteenth one in the league, having clubs in the states of Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
